Alexander Stewart is h/o Rebecca Clark. They had nine children, eldest son John Clark Stewart b. 4 Oct 1808 in Ohio d. 7 Feb 1823 in Ohio and another son b. abt 1810 d. abt 1830. Children of Alexander and Rebecca Clark Stewart are: Mary Ann Stewart Roseberry (wife of Abraham Roseberry) Robert Gravenor Stewart (wife Nancy Vandervort) Rachel G. Stewart b. 11 Jun 1816 d. bef 1850 Elizabeth R. Stewart Neal (wife of Timothy D Neal) Sarah Stewart Darrow (wife of William L. Darrow) Jemina N. Stewart Alexander (wife of Judge John Clark Alexander) Martha Jane Stewart Swayne (wife of Dr. Joshua Swayne) Alexander served in the War of 1812.
Alexander Stewart, Orange co., N.C., went about 1803- perhaps a yr or so later- to Waynesville, Warren co., Ohio, and his father and family followed a little later. There he married Rebecca Clark, born in S.C. daughter of John Clark, an ardent Quaker of Newberry dist., and Mary Campbell. John Clark died in 1796 and his widow Mary Campbell Clark and her sons and dau. Rebecca, moved to Ohio in 1804 or 1805. Alexander resumed the spelling Stewart and joined the Baptist church, and his parents, although not members, attended the same church. He acquired 417 acres of land about 1 1/2 miles from Freeport (Orgonia) and 4 miles from Waynesville, in the bottomland of the Little Miami river. On his land were a Free-will Baptist church, which he largely supported, a school house, and a cemetery.
He was buried on his farm; later his body was removed to a cemetery at Xenia.
