Monday, March 12, 2012; Subject: Samuel Manion; Ron; Just wanted to let you know that I took your suggestion about Jim Martin @ History-Sites.com. He was very helpful.
From the info, I found that Samuel had been shot in the right hand. He lost part of his ring finger and damaged his index and middle finger. This happened in the Chapin hill battle near Perryville KY on Oct 8 1862.
He later married Ellen Griggs in 1896 in Wichita. She died in 1903. I have not found Samuel's death date or place. Just wanted to share this with you and say thanks again for your help. Take Care Don
