  • Notes
    • Baptized 29 October 1758 at Zion's Moselem Lutheran Church near Moselem Springs, Richmond Township, Berks County, PA; sponsors, Joh. Wolfgang and Anna Moehring, George Michael Durr then a weaver.

Georg Dörr was a sponsor at the baptism of Johan Heinrich Moehring, son of Johann Wolfgang and Anna (Merckle) Moehring (b. 11 August 1779, baptized 12 September 1779) at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, Silver Run, MD, along with Elisabetha Biehl, both single.

Joh. Georg and Dorothea Dörr were communicants at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, 8 June 1783. They were sponsors at the baptism of Johann Georg Biddle, son of Thomas and Eva Barbara (Merkle) Biddle (b. 27 August 1784, baptized 12 September 1784), at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, Silver Run, MD.

The first Jefferson County record mentioning George Durr was an 1806 indenture, transferring land from Adam Shepherd and his wife Rachel (of Bullitt County, Kentucky) to George Duer of Jefferson County. Durr paid the Shepherds $600 (of “Kentucky currency”) for the land, which included 300 acres in Jefferson County, along Pope Lick Creek, a branch of Floyd's Fork (1806 Indenture, Jefferson County Deed Book #7, pp. 509-510).

It is unclear when the Durrs first came to Jefferson County. The 1806 indenture is the first mention, but the family first appears in church records in 1824. Census records mention them for the first time in 1840; tax lists include no Durrs in 1806-1810. John and Doritha Durr appear in 1827, and two Georges and Michael appear in 1828.

In 1827, there were several documents dealing with the death of George John (or John George) Durr. It was said that the administration of the estate of George John Durr was granted in one place (where the writing was barely legible), while later it says that the inventory and appraisement of John George Durr was returned. Later it says that Jacob Reel, Jr., Philip Swan, James Pomeroy, Hugh Bonn, and Warnick (?) Lynn were “ordered [... to] examine and settle the accounts of George Derr administrator of John G. Durr deceased and make report to the Court.

There are many variations in the spelling of the name Durr in the records. It has been spelled Durr, Duer, Derr, and Darr. The order and names of the Durr children is not totally clear (except in those cases where a birth year is given.)
