Melvina applied as widow of Joseph Anderson for Civil War Pension #29924912 dated December 1882. Papers collected from National Archives.
Land deeds: It is curious that all land deeds are in Melvina's name. Joseph is not found in the Vermilion County, Illinois Deed Books. However, there was a deed 13 July 1901 signed by the 7 sisters as heirs of Joseph Anderson selling Lot 2 Block 6, Russell, Stewart & Gilbert Addition to South Danville to Albert Goulding, details entered in More/Notes" for Joseph Anderson, copy in Albert Goulding son of Julietta Anderson Goulding.

See - "The Blakeney's 1828 from Bourbon Co. KY. to Vermilion Co. ILL." by Grace Glaspie, Oxford, Indiana, 47971, no date but possibly 1974, also known as "Blakeney Kith & Kin." The section about Melvina Blakeney's parents contains some doubtful information. There are also Blakeney genealogies on the internet. I have a copy of an out-of-print book "The Blakeneys in America . . .", John Oscar Blakeney, 1928, that is a genealogy of a Blakeney family who came into America via South Carolina. I could not find any relationship to our Blakeney family, and some researchers have obviously confused these "southern Blakeneys" with ours.
