Landiss of 328 Spring street, died Sunday evening at his home after a lingering illness with cancer. He had been bedfast since August 23. Mr. Landiss was 67 years old and a native of English, Ind. A wife and a daughter, Miss Florence of Alton, and a son, T. E. Landiss of New Albany, Ind., survive. Mr. Landiss has been a resident of Alton for 17 years. For 14 years he had been a storekeeper at the East Alton plant of the Western Cartridge Company. Mr. Landiss was prominently identified with the Cherry Street Baptist Church. For 14 years he had been a member of the Board of Deacons, and was active in the other departments of church work. He was also a member of the Alton Mutual Society and the Mutual Protective League. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Cherry Street Baptist Church. Rev. W. M. Rhoads, supply pastor, will officiate and the burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
