  The John R. Froman in the Civil War in Kansas is son of Greenbury Froman who was son of old Jacob Froman of Crawford Co who settled in Crawford about 1819. Jacob Froman was the father of the two sons Abraham and James who remained their whole lives in Crawford, but after 1830 Jacob Froman migrated to Warren Co., Illinois in company with his daughter, Sarah, and her attorney husband, John Miles. Also, he took his young son, Greenbury Froman (b. 1815), with him. Greenbury was father of John R. Froman the Kansas soldier.
