3/24/2009 Hi Ron, I visited your tree on Ancestry.com today after noticing a leaf by my grand father's profile. I love the beautiful poem "Dear Ancestor." My grand father was James R. Little; his mother was Rachael Yates Little Colvin.
I first noticed William Yates's name in an obituary of Louisa Fenn Little. The obituary was sent to me by a cousin in Florida. There is an excellent web site here in Evansville, Indiana that covers obituaries of Evansville and surrounding area that go back as far as there were records. If you are interested in this site enter "Browning Genealogy: Evansville Area Obituary Search." I located the obituary for William in the Browning records. I will send it and Louisa's obituary also. You will see that William was buried at the Alexander Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro, Kentucky. It is only thirty miles from here. I am going over later this spring when it warms a bit more in this area and photograph his grave site and stone if he has one. I would be happy to send you a picture.
For myself, I was born on the west side of Evansville, Indiana on July 10, 1930. After graduating high school in 1948 I enlisted in the Army, served twenty years and retired in 1968. I returned to Evansville, bought a home on the west side close to where I was born, and live there until 2004. My wife and I now live in a retirement community.
I have three children, two sons, ages 49 & 51, and a daughter 32. She was an oops baby. From my oldest son I have two grand children. My grand daughter is 21 and my grand son is 28. These belong to my oldest son. My youngest son is a bachelor. My daughter has presented us with a precious little grand daughter, Maddie; she is now 2 1/2 years old. We take care of her about 10 hours a day 5 days a week. Wow. We love her to pieces but she keeps grandma and me worn to a frazzle. I have enclosed a very recent picture of my grand daughter and me, also of my wife, daughter, and grand daughter. Best wishes, Jim
