I have nothing of importance to relay to you, but we have not been paid off yet. I have four month pay due me but I don't no when I will get paid off, but when I do I will send it home, and I want you to do the best you can with it. For it is earnt by the hardest.
The boys is all well at this time. I saw Brazila Dolson as he went down to Vinburghund. All the boys in the 49th they was all well when I saw them. Well I will tell you something about my horse. I have a fine horse 5 years old 16 hands high and rides well. The mare I lost last summer,I have found her yesterday and I have her to present. The trial will come off tomarrow morning, but she is not worth near as much as she was when I lost her.
I got a letter from Frank last week dated January 9th 1863 which ansured the new day. Which was the first letter I have had from him or you , except one sense Charly came down here. So nothing more, but give my respects to all. good by; G.H. Miler to Polyann (Roberson) Miler
COPY OF A LETTER WRITTEN TO MRS. MILER FOR G.H.MILER BY LEWIS A MURPHEY
Pine Bluff March th 13/64; Mrs Miler; by request of your husband I write this letter to you. Mr Miler is out on a ten day scout. he has been out four days. I have heard from them. Since they have been out they had two little skirmishes and drove the rebels before them, there were 150 rebels I have not heard the particulars but none of our Company was hurt. I believe they will be in, in a few days. George is was in as good health as he has ever been Since he has been in the Service.
Dr Helso left here on the 4 th for Leavenworth. George left $25 with me to send to you by Dr Helso. The Dr told me that he would send it to you, the first opportunity. I cant tell when we will be mustered out of the Service. I think we will be mustered out about the 20th of August The boys are the most of them in good health and fine Spirits.
Origin Robison is well. there is not a sick man in our Co. There is no Secrety of provision here among the Soldiers, but the Citizens are in Miserable Circhimstance. very little to eat and wear. I pity some of them very much, and then there are some that no Ciremmstances would cause me to Sympathize with them. They are rebels at heart and will do anything to injure our cause. I have no Sympathy for such persons let them be north or south. I have nothing of importance to write to you, there are deserters coming in here every day from Prices army, the prospect of a move is very favorable, we will be apt to go in a month if we go at all.
Origin wants Mrs Froman to write to him and let him know whether she ever received the $50 that he sent her. He says that he sent it to Wm Preedens in Leavenworth. He says that he has written to her but received no answer, perhaps She never got the letter, our mails have been very irregular lately. I will close my letter as I have nothing of interest to write. Lewis H Murphey
