He was buried in Floral Park, Indianapolis, IN. Recollection by his nephew, Jim Yates: "Walter was a big, tall Irishman. I idolized him because he was a policeman. Once we went to visit them and I did my best to see him get off the streetcar and walk to the house. Of course it was awesome to me because he carried a real, loaded revolver, wore a uniform and badge! I still have an "Acme Thunderer" police whistle he gave me! He told me he used to use it when directing traffic but at the time (older now) was a guard at the airport." I firmly believe that '37 Buick club coupe in the pic on the right side is the one Dad gave Uncle Walter Bandy to pay back a debt he owed him one time. Uncle was proud as a peacock of that car! jim

I remember them well Ron! Walter was a big, tall Irishman. He told me he used to use it when directing traffic but at the time (older now) was a guard at the airport.

They had a 1937 Buick club coupe my Dad gave them for a debt he owed them. As Mom recalled, Dad had borrowed money from Uncle Walter to bury family...I think it was Jesse or one of the girls..and finally it ended with Dad trading the Buick for payment of the debt..(that Uncle Walter was anxious to receive)...Mom had been pensive about Dad and Uncle W. meeting because she feared violence..but they worked it all out diplomatically and remained friends. Uncle W. was very proud of the Buick!

Just another of the stories tucked away in my forever memory.. jim
