- Robert Paul Harris Sr.; January 10, 2007 09:56 pm; Robert Paul Harris Sr., 79, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, 2007, in Union Hospital. Born May 29, 1927, in Vigo County, he was the son of Otto William Harris and Elsie Mae Laswell Harris. He married Joyce Mattingly and she survives. Robert owned his own construction company. His hobby was caring for several dogs. Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Robert P. Harris Jr. and wife Susan of Watkinsville, Ga.; a daughter, Peggy Anthony of Terre Haute; two stepdaughters, Colleen Morris and husband Larry of Terre Haute, and Shannon Ray of Bloomington; grandchildren, Renee Brashier, Suki Jansenn and husband Chris, Amy Pursley, Robin Harris, William Anthony and wife Cathy, and Robert Anthony and wife Emily; stepgrandchildren, Keegan Morris, Abigail Morris, Marissa Morris and Makayla Morris; great-grandchildren, Brittnee Brashier, Kaitlin Brashier, Hayden Pursley, Nathan Anthony, Abigail Anthony, Noah Anthony and Mia Anthony; a sister, Alma Rankin of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Peggy Harris; brothers, William and Elzie Harris; and sister, Alberta Charters. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Rod Maris officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
