Notes - According to his death certificate, Alonzo was a WW1 veteran. The Thursday, February 3, 1955 edition of the Terre Haute Tribune, page 2, states: ALONZO BARBEE; "Brazil, Ind., Feb. 3 -- (Special)-- Alonzo B. Barbee, 63, R. R. 1, Carbon, died at the Clay County Hospital. He had been in ill health the last three months. Mr. Barbee, an Army veteran of World War I, was a native of Terre Haute but had resided in Clay County for the last 21 years. He was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses. He is survived by the widow, Ruth; two sons, Darold at home and Harold of Mesa, Ariz; two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Clark, R. R. 1, Brazil, and Mrs. Mable Salem of Ormand Beach, Fla.; a brother, Roy J. Barbee of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Miller & Sons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday with burial in Grandview cemetery south of Terre Haute."
