    • "POLY" ADAMS, PIONEER OF CHRISTIAN COUNTY DIES AT HOME IN SOUTH FORK WHERE HE LIVED FOR 54 YEARS Napoleon Adams, better known as "Uncle Poly" Adams, died last night at eight o'clock Thursday night at his residence, seven miles west of Taylorville after a lingering illness of a complication of diseases.

      Mr. Adams enjoyed a unique distinction of having lived over half a century on one farm, In the community where he resided he was highly esteemed and manyy will mourn his death. He was born Jun 20, 1832, in Washington County, Ind., and at his death was aged 77 years, 10 months and 29 days. When he was 5 years of age, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frances Adams came to Christian county and settled in South Fork township. In the succeeding 72 years South Fork township has been his home. Fifty-four years ago he purchased the farm on which he resided at his death, and he had ever since made his home. Foe many years he and his wife have been spending their winter in Pensacola, Fla.

      Mr. Adams had been a farmer all his life and a very successful one, to amassing considerable wealth. He retired from active life about fifteen years ago. Fifty years ago last March Mr. Adams was united in marriage to Miss Emma Russell, who is still surviving. One child, Ethel, Adams, who married W. R. Richardson, and passed away about seven years ago, was born to them. Besides his widow, the decedent is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Elmira Archer and Mrs. Mary J. Hufford, both of Taylorville.
