Born in Atlas, TX., died in Paris, TX. THE PARIS NEWS, 12 Aug 1956. 'James Yates, Paris, died Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at 433 Graham St. Funeral services have been set for 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Kirk Beard, Methodist pastor at Winnsboro, and the Rev. James Jones, pastor of Garrett Memorial Methodist Church. Interment will be made at Meadowbrook Memorial Park. Born 12 Jun 1861 at Atlas, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Yates. He was a retired farmer. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Lee Thompson, Lubbock; one son, Alvin Yates, Paris; five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Forrest Coplin, Bill Coplin, Jack Cope, E.W. Daniels, Carl Neeley, Jim Campbell, H.C. Bell and B.A. Black.'
