  • Notes
    • The funeral of Mrs. Matilda Mattingly took place from St. Anthony's Church, Long Lick, April 6th, amid a large assembly of friends and relatives. Mrs. Mattingly had reached the great age of 93 and had been, up until a few years ago, remarkable for health and vigor. She was the wife of Mr. James Mattingly, who departed this life several years ago. Since his death she has made her home at her son's Mr. Robert Mattingly. She was the mother of twelve children, seven of whom survive her. Messrs. Felix, Robert, Cliff and Joe Mattingly, Mrs. Lum Rhodes, Irvington; Mrs. Apalone Mattingly and Mrs. Margaret Cannon, Planter's Hall. Her grandchildren numbered about fifty-five and great-grandchildren near a hundred. She was a devout member of the Catholic church and noted for great Christian piety, charity and industry. "May her soul rest in peace."
