  • Notes
    • Martha A. Bragg Bastin Birth: Apr. 9, 1819 Green County Kentucky, USA Death: 1867 Jasper County Missouri, USA Martha Ann Bragg was the daughter of Gabriel Bragg 1774 Culpeper County, Virginia and Mary Ann (Estes) Bragg 1775 Culpeper County, Virginia. Martha married John A. Bastin on April 09, 1835 in Barren County, Kentucky. Martha and John brought their family to Jasper County, Missouri in 1853 from Kentucky, coming overland in wagons and settled in a log house at what is now 3876 Lincoln Road, Jasper County, Missouri. Both are buried in the Old Arthur Cemetery which is in a field on the farm at 3396 State Highway 96, east of Avilla, Jasper County, Missouri. Their graves were marked with an initial and the word Bastin cut into native sandstone. Another marker listing both of them was placed in 2004 by four of their great-great grandchildren, descendants of Martha Mildred (Bastin) Keller. Martha's sister, Elizabeth E. Bragg Slinker, her husband Joel Slinker, and their family probably came to Jasper County at the same time as Martha and John. Martha's children, Martha and Thomas, married children of her sister.
