  Sophia Davis was born in May of 1832. Her name is sometimes seen as Safira/Sapphira. She married James Swinford on 23 AUG 1851 in McMinn County, TN and together they had six children. James died at Alton Military Prison in 1863. Sophia was POSSIBLY remarried on 14 JAN 1867, in Ralls County Missouri to William Shaw. Sophia would marry one final time to James Madison Brecheen/Brackeen on 22 SEP 1887 in Lamar County, Texas. After his death in 1905, Sophia lived with various grandchildren & other relatives, until her death in 1917. Her Obituary reads: Mrs. Sophia Brecheen died at the home of a grandson, with whom she lived, near Davenport, Sunday, February 11, 1917. Her age was 86 years. She is survived by 3 children and other relatives and a host of friends; she was a member of the Methodist Church. The body was brought to Wellston for interment, the funeral being conducted at the cemetery Monday [February 12, 1917] afternoon by Rev H. L. Cloud. Mrs. Brecheen was the grandmother of Mrs. Arthur [Della Mae Swinford] Kephart of this place [Wellston, OK].
