When I received the records of Isaac Adams today, I was very pleased that his military records were included. From the military records, I learned that the date of his injury was September 1, 1864, suffered in the Battle of Jonesboro, that his leg was amputated, and that he died on the train on the way to the government hospital in Chattanooga. I checked the history of the 125th (which you sent me earlier) and learned that on September 1, 1864, there was a two hour battle during which the enemy suffered greatly, and then at 4 p.m., “...we assaulted the enemy's lines across open fields...” I believe this was the fatal battle. The history of the 125th records the burning of Atlanta late that night by the rebels as they fled. I learned in Wikipedia that the famous fire scenes of “Gone With the Wind” depict this event.

Removed from hospital train already dead then pronounced dead at Goverment Hospital No #1, Chattanooga, Tennessee
