HOWARD MAX COX, 76, of Sugar Island, Mich., passed away, Monday, July 14, 2014 at his home. Max was born July 6, 1938 in North Manchester, Ind. a son of Ira and Alta Cox. After retiring from the Department of Defense in 2000, he became very active in the community on Sugar Island. He was involved with the Sugar Island Fire Department and Ambulance Corps and Border Review, he was involved with the Coast Guard auxillary and the antique tractor club. He loved to help others and would work on anything for anyone. Surviving are his two children, Theresa (Randy) Dailey of Roanoke, and Michael Cox of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Alena) Judy, Stephanie A. Judy, Aaron (Anna) Judy, Brian M. Bell, and Timothia (Jake) Balentine, Christina (Shane Smith) Dailey, Amber (Aaron) Stice, Nikki (Andrew Hogg) Dailey; 11 great-grandchildren, Khiala and Alayna Judy, Izabelle Sallee, Savanah Judy, Braylon Judy, Arianna and Kaya Smith, Kyle, Haley and Aleah Stice, and Warren Hogg; brother, Dean (Jackie) Cox of Nashville, Ind.; and niece, Susan (David) Hughes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia E. Cox; daughter, Kimberly A. Bell; and sister, Darletta Hirsch. A Celebration of Life is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at Sugar Island North Fire Hall. Memorials to Hospice of EUP or Sugar Island Fire Dept.
