    • [Internet Search] I am descendant of Jacob Clark, born Rachel Wollam (Ollam, Ulm, etc.) and Jacob Clark. Am seeking ... 1) contact with anyone researching this line 2) proof of Rachel's birth 3) proof of Rachel's parentage Thanks! Calls welcome @ 610-212-1558 Notes: Jacob Clark was born in Pennsylvania, probably in Somerset or Greene County; on January 22, 1799; we need to determine exactly where. He married Rachel Ullom (Wollam, Olm, Ulm, Wollen, etc.). Rachel was born May 5, 1802, probably in Somerset or Greene County Pennsylvania. We believe that he was born and married in or near Greene County, Pennsylvania. This is because there are two censuses for 1820 that make sense, one in Somerset County and the other Greene County. Greene County looks most promising because of (1) the proximity of the Ullum and Clark families, (2) the age of Jacob Clark and his spouse, and the number of family members in his household. We believe Jacob was in Pennsylvania for 1820 census is because his daughter Nancy Clark says in two of her later census entries that she was born in Pennsylvania and online people have her birthday March 1st 1821 in Pennsylvania. We believe that they moved to Anderson Township, Hamilton County, Ohio soon after Nancy’s birth on March 1st 1821 because the next child, Mary Clark, said she was born March 15th 1822 in Ohio. The only 1830 census found that fits the family is in Anderson Township, Hamilton County, Ohio. We believe that the family moved to Harrison County, Indiana between the 1830 census taken in Anderson Township, Hamilton County, Ohio, on which the Jacob Clark family is annoted, and the death of their son James Clark on June 23 1832. The timing of this move is a safe assumption because James is buried in his parents’ plot in Palmyra, Harrison County, Indiana, and not in Ohio (because this James is buried with Jacob and Rachel we can assume that he is their son). Children: 1. Nancy E. Clark. Born March 1, 1821, (March 30, 1820), in Ohio. She died December 20, 1881, in Hollis, Kansas. Buried in Zion Cemetery, Republic County, Kansas. She married Stephen A. Briggs. 2. Mary Clark. Born March 15, 1823, in Ohio, died April 13, 1885. She married James Sherwood on March 11 1847 in Harrison County, Indiana. James was born February 4 1827 near Hardinsburg, Washington County, Indiana, and died August 31, 1918. She was known as “Aunt Polly” in the Clark keepsake letters, according to Thaine Clark. James was a farmer. He served as a Private in Company E, 9th Indiana Volunteers, briefly, near the end of the Civil War. She and James are buried in Zion Cemetery, Republic County, Kansas. 3. Rebecca Ann Clark. Born November 28, (December 2) 1824, died February 2, 1892, at age 68. She married George W. Austin. He was born February 29, 1816. He died October 9, 1893, they are buried in Palmyra. Indiana cemetery. He married first, Mary J., she is buried next to George, as is Rebecca. 4. William Clark. Born November 29 1826 (1828). Died September 29 1846 at age 20. He is buried in Palmyra, Indiana cemetery. He married Caroline Rogers. 5. John Clark. Born May 20 1829 (1830) in Ohio. He died December 21, 1915. He married Polly Ann Trowbridge October 11 1854 in Harrison County, Indiana. She was born January 8, 1835 (1836) in Harrison County, Indiana. She died May 18, 1922? She is buried in Palmyra, Indiana. John married second, Sara? Monroe, (1862-1939)? He died near Hollis, Kansas? 6. James Clark. Born June 24, 1831, died June 23, 1832. He is buried in the cemetery at Palmyra, Indiana. 7. Sara Ann Clark. Born May 5 1833 (1834), possibly in Ohio. She married Robert W. Penn on August 7 1856. He was born circa 1831in Kentucky. He died January 20 1891 in Williamson County, Tennessee, from gravel or granel. He was sick one year (information found in a letter in Shem and Harry Clark's old trunk). The family moved to Tennessee in the fall of 1877 to live near Harvey Clark’s place. 8. Lydia Jane "Liddy" (A), Clark. Born October 23 1836 (1838) in Ohio. Died April 20 (22) 1908, in Harrison County, Indiana. On October 27 (26) 1867 she married John Perryman. He was born May 1836, (1835), in North Carolina. He died March 7, 1913, in Harrison County, Indiana. They are both buried in Hancock Chapel Cemetery, in Blue River Township, in Harrison County, Indiana. (Lydia called her mother's maiden name Villom). 9. Jacob Clark. Born September 15 1838 (1840) in Ohio. Married Penelope Jane Sears on October 13 1859 in Harrison County, Indiana. She was born about 1842. 10. Eliza Jane “Ella” Clark. Born June 26 1841 in Palmyra, Harrison County, Indiana. Married in Palmyra Harrison County, Indiana on September 30 1858 to George Jacob Trowbridge. Eliza died June 18 1890 and is buried in the Trowbridge family plot in Zion Cemetery in Republic County, Kansas. George then married Sarah E. "Sally" Monroe in Cloud County, Kansas on June 22, 1893. George and his family lived at his homestead until 1901-2, at which time he had to give up manual labor due to failing health. They moved to Concordia. George died March 7 1906, and is buried in the Trowbridge family plot in Zion Cemetery in Republic County, Kansas. Sally died in 1939. 11. Shem Wesley Clark. Born July 11 1843 near Palmyra, Harrison County, Indiana. He died March 14 1922 on their homestead, northeast of Hollis, Kansas, north of Concordia, Kansas, and is buried in Zion Cemetery, Republic County, Kansas. On October 26 1865 he married at the bride’s home, near Bradford, Harrison County, Indiana to Mary Magdalene (Marilla) Deweese. 12. Rachel Suvannah Clark. Born October 29, 1845 (1846) in Harrison County, Indiana. Married William McKinney, August 20, 1871, in Harrison County, Indiana. Note: the 1870 census showed William McKinney, age 18, living with the Jacob Clark family. 13. Benjamin F. Clark. Born March 25 1849. Died September 9 1898. He married Rebecca A. Lochenour, December 25 1873 in Harrison County, Indiana. dmiller1971 dmiller1971 originally shared this 20 Dec 2008
