- Daniel Wayne Reasor Birth: 1948 Death: Dec. 24, 2006 REASOR, DANIEL WAYNE, 58, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Paris, France December 24, 2006. Dan, a Louisville native, graduated from Westport High School and attended Kenyon College, graduating Magna Cum Laud with a bachelor's degree in English. He later attended the University of Louisville earning a master's degree in English as well as the University of Kentucky earning a master's degree in library science. He served 3½ years in the Peace Corps, teaching English in Niger, Africa. In the early 1980s, he accepted the position of chief librarian in Welch, WV and was instrumental in obtaining funds for the construction of the McDowell County Public Library after the former library was destroyed by fire. In the mid-1980s he moved to Paris and became the chief librarian for the International Herald-Tribune, part of the New York Times. He had worked in that position for over 20 years at the time of his death. His gentleness, humor and wisdom will be sorely missed, but ne'er long forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Lloyd Reasor and Mary Laverne Curtsinger. He is survived by his wife, Anne Guerin; children Sonia and Kevin; and siblings, Linda Button, (Frank), Colleen Simpson and Dr. Gary Reasor, (Susan). Funeral services are 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at Pere-Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the "Friends of McDowell County Library," Welch, WV 24801.
