    • Census: PO Georgetown 20 JUL 1880 Georgetown, Vermilion, Illinois, USA

This family lived a rather quiet, uneventful" farm life until World War I was declared. Val, the eldest, served, with the army in Europe as a truck driver. For months at a time no letters came and the mother was deeply grieved. Eventually, however, Val returned unharmed. Not many years later, in 1934, my grandmother Blakeney died rather suddenly. My grandfather, Dock, who is now eighty-one years old, owns a large farm east of Westville which is operated by my two uncles, Dewey and William. A part of this farm was originally owned by my great-grandfather Hugh.
