"Uncle" Jefferson Stepro, died in Heath Township last Monday in his 99th year. He was born in Lebanon, Ky., in 1800 and removed to Indiana in 1806 and resided in Heth and Boone Townships, this county, ever since. He was born on Christmas day and had he lived until next Christmas could have reached the century mark. His hearing, eyesight and memory were good, and a few months before his death was able to do chores about the premises. He was a remarkably well preserved man and he attributed his longevity to abstemious habits. The funeral took place yesterday and the remains were interred at Bethel church burying ground. Father of daughter Sarah with first wife Sarah Margaret Jones. His daughter Sarah was raised by Jefferson's stepmother Catherine Schuck.
