Notes - Joseph built a log cabin on the southside of the Highfill property. Joseph and his family later moved into the cabin that Elmer built (which was across the road from the final Highfill home). Elmer offered to help them build a new home if he could have access to the basement while visiting (he liked to stay a month at a time). The basement was never built, what use to be a garage became the bedroom and the house totaled 4 rooms. Even in 1980 when Joseph died, they were still reliant on an outhouse and a mobile wash tub. Sometime before the 70s both older homes were torn down and only the final Highfill home remained. After Joseph died, Nancy moved in with Linda and her family. Scott and his family moved into Joseph's home and took possession of the 80 acres. Around 2000, Glenn and Katherine moved onto the land (near where Joseph's first home was built).
