Jeremiah Walls was born in Crawford County, February 26, 1839 and died at the home of his son. S.W. Walls, in south English February 18, 1920, of paralysis, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 18 days. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Stepro December 30, 1858, and to this union two children were born, William T. and America, who with the wife preceded him many years ago.
He again united in marriage to Amanda Roberson Bell September 8, 1864, to this union ten children were born, of whom eight are living: Sarah E. Brown, of Eckerty; Martha E. Knight, Jeffersonville; John and Sam W. Walls, of English; Viola Zimmerman, of St. Louis; M.M. Walls, of Hammond; Jerry M. Walls of Mansfield, Ohio; and Lucreta M. Graves, of Louisville.
They, with the aged wife, 23 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives to mourn their loss. He united with the Christian church in early manhood. Afterward he united with the United Brethren church. He answered the call of his county in the Civil War and served in 1864-65. He was with Sherman on his famous march to the sea. The remains were taken to Bethany Friday and laid to rest; funeral services were in charge of Rev. E.B. Catt.
