- Sarah Yates, by Bill Yates SARAH YATES declared intention to marry William Ashburne on 7-7-1721 and again on 5-8-1721 at Middletown Monthly Meeting, Bucks Co., Pa. Sarah Yates signed as witness to several marriage certificates, the earliest being in 1713. It would therefore seem likely that she was born before 1700. Sarah Yates was mentioned in her father's will in 1830. She received ten shillings. On 1 Aug 1724 Peter Webster of Bucks Co., Pa. mentioned his "Grandson in Law William Ashburn" and forgave him his debts "whether in Bills Bonds or Accounts." He also bequeathed to his granddaughter, Sarah Ashburn, his Great Bible. William Ashburne was a member of Falls Monthly Meeting at the time of his marriage to Sarah Yates. On 12 May 1993, Art Lawton of Trenton, NJ sent a chart of his ancestors back to and including Sarah Yates. He also sent a heavily documented genealogy of Sarah's descendants in his direct line. williamyates added this on 1 Nov 2010
