      Emma (Russo) Yates, 78, of Monessen, passed from the loving embrace of her husband and family into the loving arms of God on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Monessen on Aug. 8, 1930, the daughter of the late Michael and Millie (Gilotti) Russo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Coffman; and three brothers: John, Eugene and Mario Russo. Survivors include her husband, Nelson Yates, of Monessen; two daughters: Freda Abbott and husband John, of Coal Center, and Cindy Soles, of Belle Vernon; four sons: Nelson 'Junior' Yates, of Monessen, John Yates and wife Shanlei, of California, and Mark and Wayne Yates, of Monessen; five grandchildren: Scott Abbott, Janell Abbott, Sarah (Soles) Dongilli, Marlena Soles and Bobby Yates; three great-grandchildren, Domenick and Trustin Dongilli, and Isaac Abbott; a brother, Joe Russo, of Coal Center; and a sister, Martha DiBattista, of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME, 40 Second St. Ext., Donora (724-379-6900), where services will be held Wednesday May 6, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Joe Perozich officiating.
