The service was conducted by the Rev. Francis M. Love, pastor of the church,...Interment was in Maple cemetery, a short distance from his home. Mr. Tilman was a native of Indiana, having been born in DuBois county on April 15, 1862, and his age being 80 years, 9 months, and 7 days. On December 9, 1886, he was married to Miss Mate Yates of Ireland, Ind., and in 1902 they moved into Kentucky and later into Tennessee, coming to Missouri about the year 1908 and making this their home since. On coming to Caruthersville, Mr. Tilman was employed for several years by the Dillman Egg Case Company, predecessor of the Dillman Industries and the present Delta Box Company. Later he purchased a tract of land west of the city and engaged in truck farming, a business he conducted until ill health caused his retirement. Through the conduct of this business he became well known throughtout the community.
