- George Washington Keysacker Birth: 1749 Pennsylvania, USA Death: Aug. 14, 1851 West Fork Crawford County Indiana, USA My great-great-great-great grandfather: George Keysacker, married to Catherine Keesecker, of Virginia and moved to West Fork, Crawford County, Indiana. Original spelling of last name was Keesecker and Kiesecker. Son of Johann Ernst Kiesecker and Catherine Beck of Steinmark, Germany. Brother of Aaron and Mary (m. Barney Miller). Father of William, Mary Eliza, Nancy and John (known children). Born in Pennsylvania and resided in Berkeley County Virgnia before eventually moving his family to Indiana. Served in the Revolutionary War under Captain J. Jarrett, Col. William Darke and Major Scott; job details to ferry troops and wagons across the Pamunkey and Mattapony Rivers. Ferried General Washington across Pamunkey River when traveling from Pennsylvania to join the army at Little York. Guarded British prisoners captured at Little York and removed to Winchester. Applied for a pension but was denied due to limitations on the time he served in the war. Pension records have been found at Fold3.com and I have copies of them. Pension papers declared that George died at his residence in Indiana in the year of 1851 at the age of 100.3 years old. The papers do not give an actual birth year. They do give places of residence of George and his two siblings. Sister Mary and her husband moved to Breckinridge County, Kentucky after the Revolutionary War. George Keysacker buried in family cemetery, West Fork, Crawford Co IN 66 Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Vol 2. p. Seriod 12842, vol. 3 ----------- Notes 3 Sep 2012: a date of birth discrepancy of 1763 has been noted in certain family trees on the internet. This date is not correct and has been verified by George's service in the Revolutionary War. The 1850 census shows George's age as 101 which gives us the 1749 birth year. His pension papers indicate an 1750 birth year. If born in 1749-1750, was George previously married and had children with his first wife? Wife Catherine's last name has been proven as Keesecker on the marriage records but was this her maiden name Family links: Spouse: Catherine Keysacker (1774 - 1834) Children: William Keysacker (1802 - 1861)* Mary Eliza Keysacker Myler (1810 - 1864)* *Calculated relationship Burial: Keysacker Cemetery Crawford County Indiana, USA Created by: Carole St Clair Grant Record added: Oct 11, 2007 Find A Grave Memorial# 22098067
