November 27, 2012; Mary Yates Villeret ; Hello Ron, The Militery Monument at Nashville is honoring people from there (I guess Killed) it is out in the area where we were looking at Microfile. His name is at the bottom and spelled in the original spelling of Yeates called "War of 1812 Memorial Stone, Columbia, Maury Co., Tn."

He is Yeates, Daniel (3) Jr. (B) 1775 Onslow Co., N.C. (D) 16 Feb. 1815 Battle of New Orleans,La. He is buried. I was told that the reason he is not in the books of that battle is because they fought for several weeks after it ended, but did not know it was over. My cousin went there before me and found the Plantation papers. Their microfilm is awful. You can barely make it out. Daniel has remarried before he left.

After he died she married the caretaker and gave the children all away. The younger one to Daniels 1st wife brother. I will send some folder numbers if you want to go there.

The War of 1812 lasted for three full years and a few months. The United States declared war on Britain on June 19,1812. The Treaty of Ghent, signed on December 25, 1814, effectively ended the War of 1812. However, it was not until January 8, 1815, at the Battle of New Orleans, that the last battle was fought. Daniel was evidently wounded during this battle & died the next month.
