"The next record we found was the census of 1790 in Allegheny-Washington Co., Penn. John had two sons under sixteen years and his Wife, Martha. The family left Northumberland Co., Penn, and moved to Kentucky. In the tax list of 1800 we find in Harrison Co., Ky., where the south fork of Licking flows from Bourbon Co. In the tax list of 1807 he was in Bourbon Co. and had three horses. In 1809, Martha Blakeney had three horses and three colts; by this we surmise that John had died and she was the widow. The census of Bourbon Co. in 1810 lists Martha Blakeney as head of household with two sons, one between 10 and 16 years, and another between 16 and 26 years. Martha was under 45 years of age. John T. Blakeney, her son, was also listed as head of household in the 1810 census. This was census was finished in 1811 and he was listed as between 16 and 26 years of age, as was his wife. Also listed was a daughter under 10 years.

John T. Blakeney had one mare on the tax list of 1810. In 1811, two horses were listed. William Blakeney also had two horses in the tax list of 1811. His age was given as 21 years. William was evidently the other son mentioned in the 1790 census in Pennsylvania."

DIED. At her residence, in Winfield, Cowley County, Kansas, Thursday, June 28th, 1877, Teresa E. Klingman, wife of Samuel D. Klingman.
Sister Klingman was born in Mount Pleasant, Ohio, May 22nd, 1826. At the age of eleven years she was converted, and joined the M. E. Church, of which church she has been a faithful and consistent member ever since. She was married to her husband in March 1848, and moved with her family to this county from Cambridge, Ohio, February 1870. Deceased was a good help-meet, one upon whom her partner could always rely for sympathy and help in the battle of life. She was always kind as a mother, looking after the highest and best interests of her children. Her last sickness was protracted and painful. Her disease (cancer in the breast) seems to have been inherited. And yet with a consciousness from the first that it would terminate her life, she looked death calmly in the face and waited patiently for the end. Her life has been a benediction, and her death was precious. The bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends, and the prayers of a church that feels the loss of one beloved.
Samuel D. KLINGMAN and Teresa Elma ISRAEL had the following children:

MARRIED. Married in Florence, Kansas, August 18th, 1883, by Rev. E. P. Foster, Mr. Mac. C. Klingman, of Topeka, and Miss Ina T. Sweet, of Canon City, Colorado.
McClellan is well known in this city, being an old resident and having graduated in 1880 from our High School. Where here not long ago, he breathed no intention of committing this matrimonial deed, and it will therefore surprise his friends. "Mac" is a young man of ability and good judgment and, though unacquainted with the bride, we are satisfied that his selec- tion has been a good one. He being a member of the noble band of printers and having assisted on the COURIER at different times, all can join heartily in extending congratula- tions and good wishes.

Winfield Courier, Thursday, July 23, 1885.
M. C. Klingman sends us the Meriden Report, Jefferson County, a paper he has just started with the appendage "please ex." You bet we will. "Mac" is one of the old COURIER boys, one of Cowley's pioneers--one who grew up and got his "larning" on her soil, and we are glad to note his advance.

Seaton Hill Cemetery N38 16.43 W86 27.2002 Was a Methodist preacher and circuit rider; a veteran of Indian Wars, interpreter at meetings and of treaties between Indians and 'white men', and was fiercely proud to be an Indian. Involved with underground railway, helping many slaves to escape to the North. He was self-educated, well-read, and possessed one of the largest personal libraries in Southern Indiana. He had extensive personal records, photos and genealogical data, particularly concerning his Indian blood, but all were destroyed in a fire that consumed his home. Best described by a granddaughter who wrote, "a tall, good-looking man, dark, with the coloring of an Indian as well as the stature and mien." Buried in Seaton Cemetery, Grantsburg, Crawford Co., Indiana. From Family Trees, Ancestory.com

Notes for JOHN HUGHES: John Hughes, brother to Ned (Edward) Hughes, raised Ned's children when they were orphaned early in life. Vol. "State of W. Va. Report of Col. Morgan Morgan Monument-Commission," pub. Charlestown, W. Va. 1924. Hon. Ephraim F. Morgan, Gov. ex-officio-chairman.

Notes from text of book on the Morgan genealogy follow:

Col. Morgan Morgan, b. in Wales 1688, is recorded in Orange County in 1742 as the first settler of West Virginia. He died in Frederick County, Virginia, now Berkeley County, West Virginia. He was educated in London. He is said to be not only the earliest settler but a very prominent settler in the Shenandoah Valley. In 1747 he served as one of the justices (judges) of the first court of Frederick Co., Virginia.

p. 28; p. 66. Morgan Morgan, Jr., who married Mary Gossett, lived and died in Virginia. He was also prominent and is named as commissioner, in 1773, in Berkeley County. He remained upon the old farm of his father. He was an Episcopal minister of great piety and worth. His deeds are recorded by Bishop Meade. He served in the Revolutionary War as a private under Capt. William Haymond. He was very active in the Bunker Hill Church affairs and asked to be buried under the porch of the old church (p. 93), fifty miles from Hedgesville, West Virginia.

p. 95. Morgan Morgan, Jr., was the only one of the Colonel Morgan Morgan's children to remain in Berkeley County. He sold most of his 1,000 acres, until 1765 only 182 acres remained in his possession. He and his wife had been living with their son, Morgan, for some time and on April 2, 1765, he deeded the last portion of his plantation to Morgan 3rd for 100£. English money.

4/25/2009 It was easy enough to find your Henry with his parents William b. ca 1835 Ala and Rhoda b. ca 1830 KY in the 1870 census for Madison County. Since Mary was 13 yrs then she should have appeared with William & Rhoda in the 1860 census.

The three of them were in Madison County (indexed as McKiney) 1860 census along with Robert McKiney who was the right age to be William's father.

Going backwards one more decade, Robert McKinney (indexed as Mc Kinney) was enumerated in 1850 also in Madison County along with wife, Martha, and their son, William. Since Robert appeared with the adult William in 1860 it makes sense (but is not proof) that Robert is William's father.

I hope you are not put off by the information about Robert that he was "insane". That could mean a lot of different things than how we use the word now. He could have had early onset Alzheimer's; he could have had an accident that resulted in brain damage; he could have had a stroke and therefore could not talk or respond appropriately. Without more information, we just don't know.

Going back one more decade to find Robert (at least he wasn't a John, James or William!!); there was Robert in the adjoining Jackson County, Alabama in 1840 with a household that was a perfect match to his 1850 household.

In 1830 he was also in Jackson County with himself and his wife. No children. Again - a perfect possibility.

Now - what other McKinney families were in Madison County: the family of Thomas McKinney and his wife, Jane (or sometimes seen as Jean). This is a well documented family with earliest records when John McKinney m. Jane/Jean Sharp in Roane County, Tennessee 1804. Below is information from my notes about this family. There is no Robert included.

In addition to the families of Robert & Martha McKinney and Thomas & Jane McKinney in 1850 Madison County was Rebon McKinney b. 1805 and his wife, Betsey. They also had a William and a David in their household which might suggest that these were family names and that Robert and Rebon/Rubin were related. Also enumerated there were James b. 1813 who was a son of Thomas & Jane. I will see what I can find out about this Rebon/Rubin.

In the 1850 census Robert b. ca 1805 +/- 5 yrs had unknown birthplace. In 1860 he was reported b. in VA. Later census records, William reported his father b. VA (in 1880).

If you could follow any of Robert & Martha's other children to the 1880 census to see where they reported their father born, you might have a clue as to his parentage.

What to do next in terms of finding a genetic match? I would trace all of Robert & Martha's children to see if any living descendants of those other lines have any information on the family. I would be especially interested in the sons since any direct line male McKinney descendants from any of those other boys in the household should be your genetic match. (Assuming, of course, that William was not adopted or illegitimate!)

We do have a McKinney line that traces the ancestry to Roane County, Tennessee where Thomas McKinney m. Jane Sharp. But we have no participants from Thomas' line and so we don't know if they are related or not. http://www.familytreedna.com/public/McKinney/default.aspx?section=yresults See Group 18.

Also very early in Madison County (on some tax lists about 1810 - 1816) was Wilson McKinney. If this is the same Wilson, we do have a participant of this line: See Group 14.

You know that William & Rhoda had another son, Walter. Did Walter have sons and grandsons? Have you found any living McKinney males from that line? It would be very useful to have yDNA information on such a person.

As you seek out and find male descendants for your McKinney line go very, very carefully toward the subject of yDNA testing!! Some people are absolutely paranoid about it. Gain their trust first and then ease into the subject.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the first record of Robert McKinney is in Jackson County not in Madison County. Were there other McKinney's there? Did he live on the border of the county so that he actually lived very close to Madison and to any other McKinney's in Madison? It would make a difference if he was really born in Virginia instead of Tennessee. If the former it would definitely rule out any of those Roane County, Tennessee married couples as his parents.

James Yates b.1796 was part of the general migration of the Yates family from Kentucky to Crawford County in the early 19th century. We have records that indicate that James married Mary Ann Butler b.1792. Mary was a widow who had previously married William Irvin when they resided in Barren County, Kentucky. James and Mary were married January 7, 1819 in Crawford County, Indiana. Our best judgment at this writing is that James and Marry produced six children: John b.1825, Silas b.1827, Elias b.1829, Catherine b.1834, Benjamin b1837 and George b.1840.

Since daughter Franky is already married, I would think that proposed birth of 1751 is too late and that Caty was born 1740/1745
Caty and Thomas are witness to Deed in 1763 (she would have to be at least 21) but, more likely 25/30

**Anthony sells some of his land to Micajah Cox in 1756/58. Micajah would be
