    Florine Hattie Hensley; ODESSA; Florine Hattie Hensley, beloved wife and mother, died at home surrounded by her family and left this life to live with Jesus on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003. She was born on October 18, 1910, in Bethel, Texas, the daughter of John Hamilton and Mae Elizabeth Hayes.

    She graduated from Rankin High School in 1929, and was married on May 18, 1929, to Walter Winfield Hensley, who preceded her in death on November 30, 1972. She moved with her husband to Iraan, Texas, upon the discovery of the Yates Oil Field where she and her husband resided until 1972. She taught piano and helped her husband run the Texas Theater which they owned while they resided in Iraan. She was active in the Mildred Parker Garden Club and played the piano for the First Christian Church in which she was a member while they resided in Iraan.

    Upon retirement she became a real estate agent and worked in Kingsland, Texas, before moving to Odessa in 1975, where she was active as a member of the Swinging Rhythmettes Band and the Antioch Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and husband. She is survived by one daughter, Jo Anna Pope and husband, Robert, of Marble Falls; one son, Malcolm K. Hensley and wife, Linda, of Odessa; three sisters, Dorothy Lowe of Sterling City, Mary Wunderl of San Angelo and Pat Franklin of Odessa; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

    Services will be held at Antioch Christian Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, with Don Fankhauser officiating. Burial will be on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park near Kingsland, Texas. Family visitation will be on Tuesday September 16, 2003, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Alan and Tim Pope, and grandsons-in-law, Tony Ruiz, Shane Marler and Steve Bunch. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

    Florine married Walter Winfield Hensley on 18 May 1929 in Texas. Walter (son of Warren Hensley and Serena E. Brown) was born on 4 Jan 1907 in Oklahoma; died on 30 Nov 1972 in Bell, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
